Roperhurst Limited, a specialist plastics and environmental engineering company featured on BBC News 24 recently, has taken the opportunities offered by the recession to increase its staff numbers and take on new premises.

Two engineering students were walking across a university campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?"

The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want."

Roperhurst Limited, a specialist plastics and environmental engineering company based in Barry, has just taken on a further two personnel to add to its workforce of 19.

Roperhurst is looking for an experienced plastics engineer to join our well established team.

Our preferred candidate will have worked with a wide range of materials including PVC, polypropylene, polyethylene, PETG and polycarbonate.  He/she will have experience of various techniques, including butt fusion, socket fusion and hand welding.

Doug Stoneham, who joined as Roperhurst's first employee in 1976, has just hit 65. Still a very active man, Doug has asked to remain with us, and we are delighted to have that option open to us.

Roperhurst attended the recent HSE roadshow in Bradley Stoke which focused on the importance of LEVs within industry.  Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) can remove airborne contaminants before people breathe them in.

Roperhurst has been designing and installing LEV solutions for more than 30 years, and our staff have more than 100 years experience in this area. Our work includes the design and manufacture of solutions to extract fume and dust, including filtration and/or scrubbing as appropriate.

We are proud to launch our new website today. This completes the final stage of our rebranding process, which delivers a more modern and vibrant image for the company, and greater information for customers and suppliers.

 VALE AM, Jane Hutt, visited the Barry Plastics Fabrication Firm 'Roperhurst', on the Ty Verlon Industrial Estate to congratulate directors Bob Lane and Phillipe De Wilde for their commitment to recruiting and training young people, recognised with an award from Careers Wales.

Careers Wales has awarded Roperhurst its "most valued partner" in 2008.  At a dinner to recognise the recruitment and support achievements of organisations in Wales, Roperhurst's MD Bob Lane received the award on behalf of the company.
